6th Solar Hybrid Mini Grid Component Roundtable Meeting

REA-NEP holds 6th Performance Based Grant Roundtable Webinar with Mini Grid Developers.

In a webinar held on the 10th, May 2021. The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) in collaboration with the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) held its 6th Performance Based Grant Roundtable event under the Solar Hybrid Mini grid component of the NEP.

The meeting began with a welcome remark from the HPMU-NEP, Anita Otubu. In her remark, Mrs Otubu assured that the goal for consistently holding roundtable events was to ensure that the NEP continues to provide all necessary support and enabling environment for key stakeholders as they accelerate electricity access across rural communities and businesses in Nigeria. She encouraged participants to take advantage of this forum to ask questions, share their concerns and challenges faced during the process of project implementation.

The objective of the 6th PBG Round Table was to bring Mini-grid developers, NEP project management unit (PMU), and the implementing Agency (REA) together to provide clarifications on processes and updates around the Independent Verification Agency (IVA), Odyssey platform and Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) as it concerns grant disbursements. These discussions all aim to increase the rate at which funds are disbursed to developers thereby bridging the electricity gap and reach the goal of powering Nigeria, One community at a time.

Also, Presentations were delivered to developers on various updates on the Performance Based Grant (Solar mini-grid subcomponent) of the Nigeria Electrification Project, Odyssey platform, Independent Verification Agency (IVA), NEMSA, NERC
