As the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women kick-starts, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) joins the global campaigns to raise awareness for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) to highlight the grievances faced by women and girls around the world and in the workspace. REA is in support of the campaign and will be raising awareness of the key messages amongst staff and partners.
The 16 days Activism starts on the 25th of November and ends on the 10th of December 2021. These two dates are symbolic with start date falling on the INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN and the end date being HUMAN RIGHTS DAY. This year’s campaign theme is tagged “Orange the World: End violence against women now!”
This campaign is part of REA’s gender mainstreaming efforts and the drive of the Nigeria Electrification Project in creating awareness to mitigate the risk of GBV in project implementation.
