REAN Applauds NEP Transformative Impact

RENEWABLE ENERGY ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (REAN) APPLAUDS NIGERIA ELECTRIFICATION PROJECT’S TRANSFORMATIVE IMPACT

The Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria (REAN) demonstrated its commitment to advancing renewable energy access by paying a significant courtesy visit to the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) on August 3, 2023.

Led by Mr. Ayo Ademilua, President of REAN, and other members of the association, the visit highlighted the pivotal role that the NEP is playing in revolutionizing electricity accessibility for underserved communities across Nigeria.

During the visit, Mr. Ademilua commended the NEP for its efforts in bridging the energy access gap in Nigeria. He underscored the project’s remarkable collaboration with the private sector, a factor he believed was instrumental in accelerating the development of renewable energy within the country. Describing the NEP as the largest off-grid electrification project in West Africa, Mr. Ademilua emphasized its transformative impact in providing power to previously unconnected communities.

The NEP, which operates as a flagship program under the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), is not only bringing light to rural communities but also generating employment opportunities within the renewable energy sector. This comprehensive approach not only addresses energy poverty but also supports local economic growth.

Abba Aliyu, Head of the Project Management Unit (HPMU) of the NEP, expressed gratitude for the visit, affirming the project’s unwavering dedication to collaborating with REAN and other stakeholders. He stated that the shared goal of achieving universal access to electricity in Nigeria resonates strongly with both parties and emphasizes their commitment to a brighter and more sustainable future.
