Overview
The REA, with the support of the African Development Bank, has embarked on a comprehensive project aimed at accelerating electricity access in rural areas through mini grids, productive use appliances, stand-alone off-grid solutions and improved electricity supply to Universities and associated Teaching Hospitals across Nigeria.
Benefit of the Project
- Provide clean, safe, reliable and affordable electricity through renewable energy sources to unserved and underserved communities; and
- Provide women across all beneficiary groups with increased opportunities through a range of gender mainstreaming activities.
The Objectives
households to have access to increased electricity
micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) supported/supplied with productive use appliances and equipment
people obtaining access to electricity (approx. 105,000 households).
in increased installed power generation capacity developed (of which, 68 MW will be from solar generation)
universities provided with access to reliable sources of energy, renewable energy workshop/training centers and streetlights
tons of CO2 emissions reduced
