The Head of Project Management Unit (HPMU) of the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP), Abba Aliyu on Tuesday, 11th July 2023, represented the MD/CEO of the Rural Electrification Agency at the 16th annual Nigerian Association for Energy Economics (NAEE) Conference in Abuja, themed Energy Evolution, Transition and Reform: Prospects for African Economics.
During his presentation, the HPMU delved into the critical topic of “Economic Security and the Net-zero Carbon Emission Target: Balancing the Conundrum in Africa.” He emphasized on the importance of the energy sector’s evolution towards a sustainable and inclusive energy transition in Africa.
He further emphasized on the importance of striking a careful balance between economic stability and the urgent need to battle climate change by lowering greenhouse gas emissions in his remarks. Achieving this equilibrium is critical to guaranteeing a prosperous and sustainable future for Africa. By tackling these imperatives, the continent can accomplish economic growth while protecting its environment and natural resources for future generations.
The Nigerian Association for Energy Economics (NAEE) Conference has played a significant role in fostering cooperation and knowledge sharing among energy experts in Africa for decades. This year’s event also facilitates discussions on ways to further Africa’s energy transition and secure a sustainable, low-carbon future for the continent.
