President Buhari Kicks-off Construction of EEP Phase II 2.5MW Solar Hybrid Power Plant in NDA.

As part of Federal Government’s drive to scale up investment in the education sector. The President Muhammadu Buhari, represented by the Honourable Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Sali Magashi (Rtd), conducted the groundbreaking ceremony of a 2.5MW solar hybrid power plant under the Nigeria Electrification Project, being implemented by Rural Electrification Agency (REA), on Friday 6th Oct 2022 at the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), Afaka Campus, Kaduna State.

The programme is part of REA’s ongoing effort to support the learning environment by providing sustainable and reliable power supply to 37 Federal Universities as well as 7 affiliated Teaching Hospitals across Nigeria.

During the event, the President’s representative urged the contractors to do a very good job and assured them of the Federal Government’s support. On his part the REA Board Chairman, Hon. Danladi Mohammed Kurfi described the gesture by the FG to invest in energy sector which will enhance research and development in the nation’s tertiary institutions as a laudable initiative. Whilst, Managing Director of the REA Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad on his part noted that the agency will ensure the execution of a quality work which will ultimately stand the test of time.

The project is expected to be completed within the next 12 months with another 12 months course of Operation and Maintenance (O&M).
