Funded by the World Bank, the EEP II is catalyzing a remarkable step towards sustainable energy in education!

Through the EEP II, the Federal Government remains committed to providing energy access in 7 federal universities and 2 affiliated teaching hospitals in Nigeria. The initiative aims to boost R&D, enhance academic excellence, improve learning experiences and capabilities, and foster a culture of sustainability, while positioning universities as hubs of innovation and green development in Nigeria.

The power plant, constructed by EPC contractor EMONE Energy Solution, is set to revolutionize energy access at the Uiversity of Abuja. The project tour by the Honourable Minister and the REA Management team is part of the final preparations for the commissioning of EEP Phase II projects across the country.

The visit included a courtesy visit to the Ag. VC of the University, Prof. Aisha Maikudi, and a tour of the 3MW power plant and distribution network power house. The Honourable Minister also commended the REA for the training and certification of 20 female STEM students and the university, by the REA, through the Agency's Gender Mainstreaming efforts. Over 350 female students have so far been trained and certified under the REA's EEP Female STEM Internship Programme till date.

As the REA continues to drive sustainable energy solutions across the nation’s academic landscape, we are electrifying education, empowering future leaders, and paving the way for a more sustainable tomorrow.
