Given the importance of rice as a staple food
in Nigeria, and the country’s position as the
largest producer of rice in Africa, producing
about 8,435,000 tonnes annually, rice farming
is deemed very lucrative. A large majority
of Nigeria’s rice is produced by small scale
farmers, making it a source of income and
livelihood for millions across Nigeria.
