As part of ongoing efforts to deepen results-driven implementation within Nigeria’s energy access space, the REA-NEP participated in a two-day technical workshop facilitated by Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL). The session, held in Abuja from 3rd-4th July 2025, focused on strengthening the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework for the Distributed Access through Renewable Energy Scale-up (DARES) Project.
The interactive knowledge-sharing session brought together DARES Project Management technical teams to reflect on lessons learned from the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) and identify what tools, processes, and frameworks can be adapted to deepen programme impact. The aim is to support data-backed decision-making, improve accountability, and ensure adaptive programme management across DARES components.
The Abuja workshop also served as a strategic touchpoint to align on next steps, drawing directly from NEP’s implementation experience to guide DARES’ operationalization. The sessions focused on strengthening internal systems for monitoring and accountability while ensuring the MEL framework remains responsive to evolving needs and reflective of Nigeria’s broader electrification agenda.
This collaboration is anchored in Nigeria’s National Energy Compact and aligns with the global Mission 300 agenda, which aims to deliver electricity access to 300 million people across Africa by 2030. The technical support from SEforALL, informed by practical learnings from NEP, lays the foundation for a MEL system that is inclusive, stakeholder-informed, and built to drive long-term program success.
This effort underscores REA’s commitment to institutional learning, transparency, and strategic partnerships, ensuring that the DARES program delivers clean, reliable, and measurable energy access to unserved and underserved communities across the country.
